The British Museum

No trip to London is complete without a visit to the British Museum, one of the finest collections of objects of human culture in the world.

Join me for a tour of the museum’s highlights. The first half shows you treasures from the ancient world: mummies from Egypt from before the time of the Pharaohs, the mysterious Rosetta Stone, the all-powerful Rameses the Great, the exquisite carvings of the Assyrians, and the world-famous Parthenon Marbles – 2500 years old and still one of the crowning achievements of Western sculpture.

We’ll then look at objects found in Britain – from a time before the concept of ‘Britain’ even existed, a unique Roman mosaic, gold and silver treasures from 4000 years of history, including the Mold gold cape, Anglo-Saxon artefacts from Sutton Hoo that put paid to the idea of a ‘dark ages’ and two of the most astoundingly beautiful pieces of medieval craftsmanship you will ever see.

All these objects have incredible stories to tell, and you’ll discover what makes them so important. Contact me to book your trip.

One of our favorite experiences in London! Don was a wonderful guide full of knowledge and stories. Had we not had his guidance we would have been lost in such a vast museum that spans so much time and content. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

This was an exceptional experience, so much knowledge and presented in such an interesting way – I felt I was really having a “behind the scenes” tour through its history and the personalities involved in shaping it.
